Effect of rumen protected methionine and choline supplementation on leukogram profile, oxidative stress, inflammatory and immunomodulatory responses of Surti buffaloes during transition period

Present study was conducted to observe effect of supplementing rumen protected methionine and choline on leukogram profile, oxidative stress, inflammatory immunomodulatory responses during transition period in Surti buffaloes. Twenty-seven pregnant buffaloes were selected divided into three groups nine animals each with following diet regime: Group I (Control)-basal diet, II (RPM)-basal diet+rumen III (RPM+RPC)-basal methionine+rumen choline. Supplementation RPM @ 10 g/buffalo/day RPC 50 done from -15 d prepartum 30 postpartum. Blood samples collected at start experiment, 1st, 3rd 6th week At 1st postpartum, significantly higher level GSH, SOD as well TAS lower LPO observed compared control. had highest lowest levels. It concluded that supplementation phase reduces stress tendencies increases antioxidant status immune response. Beneficial effects both are more than alone.
